Product Description: Comprehensive curricula and guidance materials of best practices in infectious disease prevention and containment and an educated healthcare workforce prepared to effectively respond to a pandemic event.
Target: School Health Nurses, Occupational Health Nurses, Hospital-based Healthcare workers, and other healthcare personnel.
Initial Award Period: (March 9, 2009 – September 8, 2010) Activities included: developing curricula using established healthcare workforce competencies; delivering training modules via in-person courses, live videoconferencing, and web-based modules; and assessing program efficacy through pre-and post-tests and virtual exercises emphasizing skill assessment and performance.
Final Award Period: (September 9, 2010 – March 9, 2012) Activities will be centered on addressing the following three gaps identified during the initial award period: 1) guidance to assist decision-making regarding respiratory protective equipment when resources are limited; 2) strengthening community resilience by providing key resources to plan and implement a drive-through point of dispensing (POD) method for community immunization programs; and 3) guidance regarding vaccine handling, management, distribution and administration for occupational and employee health nurses.
